My Summary of 2010............Part 1

It is so unfortunate that I was not able to post anything with updates of what was going on with me, my career with weddings for 2010. This was a good one for me at the very least to consider. I was elected as the President of FWDP (Fashion by the Wedding Designers of the Philippines). As the newly elected President, I had to make a re-shaping of the association. With the help of my colleagues, we managed to make an eventful year for FWDP.
I'ved had few exposures with bridal fairs and exhibits for this year. So many things have changed. Maybe because of hard times that people are clinging to their bucks. Most bridal fairs have become avenues for neophyte suppliers, not so neophyte, and veteran suppliers whose thrust in their craft has remained only as purely a profit matter. I wonder why in this third world country where I continue to thrive with my chosen career , bargains, freebies has become the most successful way of luring brides-to-be. I recall when we were just starting , people come to us because they believe and appreciate our craft. They are willing to pay the price of what we believed in ourselves. And they go for it. Now, its like an invasion of "CHINA" in the wedding industry. I could only hope and wish that how it was before would be how it would always be for brides and grooms, debutants and alikes.
Am I complaining? I'm most certain that it just a sentiment. I'm an optimistic person.

I yet have to post some of my weddings and other events beginning January. I was looking for the photos of my very first wedding for this year. I seem not to find any. Then I stopped looking and eventually stopped blogging. I had too many things to attend to later on. Too many things has happened since January of this year. But I will catch up. I will!

Philippine Destination Wedding for a Guamanian Couple ( Joson - Andrada Wedding, December 24, 2009)

I accepted a commissioned work for apparels for a wedding that will be celebrated on the eve of Christmas day. Jason and Anna were born in the Philippines, grew up and lived in Guam and has decided to be married here in one of the most sought after venues in Tagaytay.

I knew this wonderful couple thru a previous Guamanian couple, a previous wedding client, Adrian and Anna Peregrino. It really gives me a good feeling that despite some differences in culture, I have managed to work with them easily and efficiently. I feel so blessed having to have worked harmoniously for these two wonderful couples. I am really happy with the fact that many times, its a lot easier to work with clients based overseas. They tend to be more simple , exact and I feel that they really know what they want. You will really feel how appreciative they are with the sincerity and efforts you devote for them.

The Josons and the Andradas are one of the most pleasant and appreciative families I'ved worked for on this concern. Never a dull moment. Anna and Jason were very nice and pleasant .
No walls, no curtains and things were a lot easier for us to accomplish for them. Their wedding planner was likewise commendable as they had their "hand-on" totally on the wedding Anna and Jason.

My special mention to Jason's mom, Ms. Elizabeth. My sincerest gratitude to her appreciation of our work and efforts.
It didn't even give me any second thoughts of having to drive way up to Tagaytay to assist a wedding even on the eve of Christmas. Its a first for me and my commitment have stayed to assist them in the best possible way we can.

We arrived at Anna's dressing up venue ahead of the supposed call time. Everything was smoooth and in order. I could see Anna's happiness and excitement that finally the day has arrived for her to be with Jason in Matrimony. Everyone is excited to witness the union of this lovely Romeo and Juliet. The chapel was packed with relatives, friends from here and Guam and even farther to the US.
The wind was blowing the huge veil on Anna. But I guess that is part of excitement.
I wish this couple all the married bliss.

The Wedding Two Days Before Christmas ( Flotildes - Barayang Wedding, December 23, 2009)

Its was two days before Christmas Day, Cel and John Paul have set their altar date. Both based in Singapore, Cel was constantly in touch with us thru my assistant Roem.
The color swatch choice didn't come easy since they were based overseas and had to make sure the the sample color they wanted for was the right one. Thanks to Cel's sister we eventually got to the color of their choice for their motif.

It was a good thing she had time to come home to fit the gown and fly back to Singapore where she is working. Fittings for everyone went on swiftly. All the members of the female entourage were cooperative. My veteran make-up artist friend was around to enhance Cel's beautiful young looking face into a radiant glowing bride. It was definitely her day. Photographers were really busy shooting the bride and her family.

The smooth ride to the ceremony venue took us about ten minutes to arrive in a church right in front of a convention center. Everything went well I'm most certain.

Marriage In Realtime ( Martinez - Manantan Wedding December 19, 2009)

Charmaine is a Texas based bride-client of mine who is having her Church wedding here in Manila. She was referred to me by a good coordinator friend Jody, months before their wedding date. She and Leo are having a church ceremony for their wedding. As always, Chairmaine was a very pleasant bride-client. I am fortunate that she trusted me a hundred per cent with the design and style of her wedding dress. I was so happy of the turn out and she appreciated the dress very much as well. I am thankful for having Charmaine as one of my overseas bride-clients. It was smoothly carried out.

December Wedding in its Simplicity ( Cordova - Vigo Wedding, December 11, 2009)

Mamelle is such a sweet bride-elect client when she came to my office. In such a short lead time, she commissioned me to do her wedding dress. She wanted a very simple dress but then I thought that wearing a very simple dress in a historical church would be such an understatement. Still her plan of coming with a simple wedding dress is my command though I succeeded in convincing that we create a simple, traditional yet modern styled wedding dress.Mamelle is tying the not with Ben who is the cousin of the husband of my very dear friend Grace.
Mamelle is working in an established commercial and universal bank while Ben is a law practitioner with special focus on labor concerns. It was indeed a simple wedding but both Mamelle and Ben looked radiant in their wedding attires. It was a simple preparation, not fun-fare.
Mamelle was so naive with her wedding preps not thinking that there should be more adventure with pictures to be taken. The line-up was likewise simple. But to my thoughts it was such an eventful one.

A Looser Blogger......... Some Lessons to be Learned

It was about an hour and a half before the clock strikes midnight to meet the year 2010. I was in my room surfing the net and tried to type my name over at google and out came a number list of topics about my craft. I came across this line and was amused to read a not so pleasant blog about me.

I learned that this blogger is a bride-elect whom I discovered blogging every details of her wedding from bridal events, to sourcing of suppliers, to her supplier shortlist, notes and appeared as an engrossed wannabe wedding review writer. Sooner than I realized, she turned out to be more of a sore bride-to-be who personally wrote a striking comment and description attempting to discredit my craft and making it appear that I was the wrong doer. The reference item came from this site, www.wedding4ish.blogspot.com, on her archive dated July 5, 2009.

(Now I hope this pathetic blogger realizes how I felt capturing her picture without permission)

Such brave and malicious commentary she wrote about me and even saying that she even spoke with me on a "supposed on the spot inquiry" only to criticize and discredit my integrity and credibility as an established designer in the wedding industry. Poor blogger, thinking that by blogging me indescretely, an outpouring of sentiments would vindicate her ignorance and irresponsible criticisms.

Its a pity this blogger does not know how to respect and observe the rights of an individual who without assimilating what transpired only to assert her callus ego insulting and blasting me in her blog. Irregardless of the hype status of a designer, it was very wrong for this blogger to put my name in an outright degradation considering of her ignorance of me and my establishment in the wedding industry. I have worked hard for this reputation and confident to say that I will be staying a lot longer in the industry as compared to this unfortunate blogger who claims of modesty and righteousness with intense ignorance and arrogance.

As she claimed that we prevented her "sister-in-law" May from taking pictures of our exhibit display, is our right to protect our property. Little do these people know how to respect the possession and rights of other people. Have they asked a courteous permission to take the pictures would have been a different story. Feeling that they were embarrassed because of our asking them not to take pictures, the arrogance of this blogger prevailed and took everything in her writing thinking that she was doing a modest "attention call", flattering my colleague designers and insulting my work. If indeed as she claimed that my gowns were not pretty (allegation), why then would they want to waste their precious clicks to capture my designs? Isn't that confusing?

SOME LESSONS TO BE LEARNED. 1) Learn to respect the property of other people. Not because we put our works in public display gives them the right to "steal" our property rights and use it for their own reference or material. I may have to speak for other suppliers in the industry like the florist, stylist, cake artist, invite printers, favor and souvenir suppliers, hair and make-up artist, etc. I may have realized this blogger is not used to attending exhibits where photos are not allowed to be taken whether there are notices for "no picture taking" or not. Still this sore blogger succeeded in taking photo of my booth and use it as her material in her blog to discredit me.

2) Be modest to ask permission to take photos and even be extensive enough to explain the purpose of the picture taking. Be prepared to be declined.

3) Learn to respect the disposition of an owner/supplier. It is their right to approve or not to approve of the request to take footage of their craft. Remember that picture taking with no permission is categorically considered to be "stealing".

4) Humility is modest and humane. Learn to accept people's minds on declaration and not turn reality to unfortunate lies.

5) Make sure to research on a supplier's identity before doing a subjective criticism. It pays to be really aware of a supplier's niche in the industry.

I rest my case. I hope they will be married the second time around, undergo the same preparation and be more sensitive next time. "Ignorance is not synonymous to Innocence".

The Bride and Groom from Singapore ( Ilao - Togoto Wedding, November 8, 2009)

Joel and Racquel were referred wedding clients to me by a dear coordinator friend Jody.
Both based in Singapore, they were really up to the planning of this wedding. Despite their distance from Manila, they made sure to allot time to come home to check on how things are doing. My assistant Roem had been so effective in communicating and facilitating the concerns and request of this very pleasant couple. It was a slowly but surely hit wedding production for us.

Even their folks were very pleasant and we had a swift time accomplishing this task.
Coming from a wedding morning service to another couple, me and my staff has decided not to return to the office anymore and instead, has decided to have lunch in a Mall.
We were really early arriving at the hotel and everyone seem to be having a good and relaxed moment.

The bayview was outstanding from Racquel's bridal sweet on the 23rd floor of the hotel. All brides are beautiful on their wedding day at very least I can say. Of course me and my staff were all tired from the morning's wedding service but we didn't feel it very much as when we see that all the dresses we made looked good on everyone. Racquel had a long time being photographed before finally leaving the hotel to proceed to the cathedral. At 4:30 pm, the bridal march started.

We assisted Racquel upon getting off from her bridal limousine. Making sure everything was in place from her petticoat, to her skirt, and the blusher veil in front. The wind was posting us a challenge having to position the 5-yard veil but of course upon entering the air-conditioned cathedral, it was a smooth flow from there. The wedding music assisted Racquel as she marched the very long aisle of the cathedral.
Our work for the day is finally done. Tired and exhausted, it was indeed a long day for me and my staff. But the day's effort was worth it. Job well done!

A Destined Wedding ( Tuguib - Fontanilla Wedding, November 8, 2009)

Arlyn is my third-generation bride-client. Third generation though unlike the anti-microbial medications, this bride-client of my is the third batch of bride that has commissioned me to do her wedding gown and female entourage gowns coming from a big medical center along Taft and United Nations Ave. She came in early to consult with me for her wedding preparations. Just finished her post-graduate internship program, she has soon decided to tie the knot with Rey, a registered nurse working in London.

It was a long-distance relationship and somehow, it was kinda difficult in preparing their wedding arrangements. From an October date, they have decided to move it two weeks after and alas! I was requested to do the apparels in just one month. I knew I was having another wedding on that same date. It was a good thing that Arlyn and Rey's ceremony time was set in the morning.

We thought we could be with her at 7:00 am to assist her with her dressing only to find ourselves driving around the block for roads were closed and rerouted for an ongoing fun run activity. We arrived as a five man team assisting the entire female entourage for whatever last minute things there was to attend to. Arlyn looked so beautiful and radiant that morning.

It was a transformation from a regular doctor to a wedding belle. It was indeed a revelation. It was a exciting and emotional moment for Arlyn and Rey as their folks have come all the way from La Union and Pangasinan for this momentous event. The mood was joyous and festive. You can feel the excitement of everyone. It was a Sunday morning , the ceremony started at exactly 10:00 am, as the cathedrals' music started to play hinting the commencement of the bridal march, we assisted Arlyn as she got of from her bridal limousine and made sure she was groomed properly while awaiting for the opening of the huge steel door of the cathedral which is known to be the only steel constructed church in Asia.

Everything went smoothly as expected. Her chosen wedding coordinators came in full force making there presence noticed and had been handling the proceeding smoothly.
It was a wedding destined to be.

My First Wedding at the Bamboo Organ Church ( Apura - Nuesca Wedding, October 24, 2009)

Babylyn I recall was a telephone inquiry bride as relayed to me by Roem my assistant. She called us more than once until she finally decided to set an appointment with us. Babylyn will be exchanging marriage vows with Architect Dale. I must say that these couple's line of work entails command and presentation of concepts and ideas. But this time, they've decided to take the backseat and leave all the designs and planning to me.

The endorsement was very short; a white wedding gown and a black tuxedo. They had full confidence that I will be able to deliver good concepts for them with their attires. The design presentation was not an ordeal, immediately, Babylyn had chosen the design among the three sketches I presented to her. Dale requested for a gold satin vest and everything was on the go.
Babylyn had also requested mo create an elegant Mother of the Bride's gown. I met her mom. She was a darling mom. She knew what she wanted and I made something for her that she immediately liked. I though she was strict. The impression was very wrong, instead I realized she was just straight forward and eventually I was very happy as to how she appreciated her dress. She definitely looked so elegant on it.
Come Babylyn and Dale's wedding day, we have another activity to undertake right after assisting the couple with their concerns. We were there as committed.

It was such a fun and hilarious moment for all of us as Jackie Rivera, the world-class hair and make-up artist continuous to entertain us while doing Babylyns hair and make-up.
Jackie to my knowledge is a true world-class hair and make-up artist as his credentials would speak of these testimonies. It will be a long drive from the Hotel to the church. The traffic was even horrendous. But we managed to get there travelling for about an hour and a half. Soon, it was time to assist Babylyn to line up for her bridal march. The church's aisle was beautifully decorated with sampaguita draping and pillar flower arrangements. Everything was in place. The bridal hymn was played and it was time for Babylyn to walk the aisle.

The Bride from Dubai ( Tesico - Elesterio Wedding, October 20, 2009 )

Mary Tess is a long distance bride-client. She was an inquiring bride that I met online. It was quick nod that she gave me entrusting the most important attire for her event, her wedding gown. She sent me pegs to work on and of course, I took those reference in coming up with a wedding gown design that she will approve.
Mary Tess is so easy to work with. She has given me the freehand to enhance and beautify the gown. She did not compromised the cost in coming up with a beautifully crafted wedding dress. A Dubai-based nurse, she has trusted us 100% to work on her gown.
Fitting was even easier. There was a very minor adjustment on the dress and was very manageable. Come wedding day, of course as my personal commitment stays, we assisted her in dressing up. It was a Tuesday wedding for Mary Tess but the festive mood makes it appear as a weekend event. We made sure that we attended to her all the way to the ceremony venue. My assistant Roem assisted her and made sure it was well coordinated.

The bridal march commenced and I notice a very solemn proceeding as Mary Tess started to walk the aisle. Mary Tess has exchanged vows with Jayson. I loved the beautiful picture frame she gave me as a token of her appreciation. It something to really keep and be used. I could only wish for more brides like Mary Tess. It keeps me inspired to work harder.

A Traditional Catholic Wedding in Oman ( Sameer - Agustin Wedding, October 15, 2009)

Jane Agustin was a graduating tourism major when I first met her. She graciously accomodated my invitation to be my model for pictorials during my beginnings as a full time bridal gown designer and as an active participant in bridal fairs nine years back. She was the very first model to appear in my very first website design. After five years of absence, she suddenly called me to inform me that she is finally tying the knot. It was an overseas call all the way from Oman where she is based working as an flight attendant for Oman Air. The fortunate groom-elect is Faddi Sameer, a Catholic Iraqi physician likewise based in Oman.

Faddi and Jane had to fly here to make the necessary arrangments. So uncertain of the finality of their wedding preparations with the date and all, they gave utmost priority to Jane's wedding gown. I'm so fortunate Jane hasn't forgotten me after all. She is commissioning me to do her wedding gown along with her female entourage gowns. The energetic Jane has remained the same but more sophisticated now. She knows what she wants and has trusted me to collaborate with the design and making of the dress.
She got what she wanted. It was a happy Catholic wedding event in an Arab land. And love is in the air. Wishing Faddi and Jane all the married bliss.

Two Anesthesia Diplomates, A Couple ( Garcia - Hernandez Wedding, October 16, 2009)

A one year and one month wedding in the making! Allan and Erika came to me in September 2008 for an October wedding of this year. I feel very blessed to keep on having wonderful clients. It was a 100% trust from day one. I was able to make a 1005 input on the wedding's concept and style as far as the attires were concerned.

Allan and Erika are both diplomates in the field of Anesthesia in the practice of medicine. It was a very swift working relationship that will surely make us miss them. I've been blessed with wonderful bride and groom clients in the many years of my career. They've been added to my honor roll of good clients. In reality, I haven't encountered many bridezillas in my long years of wedding apparels. To my recall only two or three in my ten years of recall. But of course there will always be the darling couples in my career and they continuously inspire me to further improve my craft.

It was a Friday afternoon, the weather is a bit challenging but the festive mood was very much in the air at Erika's ambassador suite. Jackie Rivera's never ending charade of comics has even livened up the room while doing the hair and make-up of the females in the suite.

This master of his craft didn't fail to achieve his task.
Everything was on schedule. We arrived early at the church. Members of the entourage and guests have started to arrive. Me and my entire staff were on her until the the church doors' have opened. Allan was dashing in his black tuxedo. The bridal march has commenced and it was time for us to assist Erika for the last time as a bride.
After Jackie's make-up retouch, we made sure that Erika is well groomed for this
emotional moment. This couple is a rare find. We will surely miss them.

A Wedding for Good! (Sison - de Dios Wedding, September 19, 2009)

This is a year-in-the making wedding preparation. Lenna was a bride that I met thru internet inquiries. After a thourough correspondence she finally decided to commission me to do her wedding gown andthe entire female entourage attires. Coming all the way from Norway, she is presently connected with the Philippine embassy as a vice-consul. Lenna's acquaintance with the groom Marlon, dates back to their high school days.

There were a lot discussions that transpired thru the e-mail and finally she was able to make her choice of the design for her wedding gown. She chose a pure-piña wedding gown along with the gowns of the mother of the bride and groom. Of course, their wish is my command and took my time to meet their folks and attend to their concerns as well.
It wasn't just the bride and the groom that I can rave about but the moms as well. Never did I have a dull meeting with their moms. Also the aunt of Lenna, Ma'm Mila who stood as one of their principal sponsors. She also made it a point to wear a pure-piña terno-sleeved gown with hand-embroidery and full beadwork.
Come wedding day, it was very exciting for all of us. Luckily we arrived at Lenna's hotel room early as to the supposed call time. Everything was well and smooth from the photographers, to her make-up artist, to her corrdinators, florist and us of course.
Everything was really in order. Pictorials were even made at the hotel's mezzanine, lobby and the grand staircase. I was getting excited. It was just minutes before the actual bridal march and the bride should be leaving the hotel. We we're all made to wait for the arrival of her bridal car. I thought the coordinating staff made a lapsed judgement on the status of the bridal car's arrival. Unfortunately, the coordinator assigned was made to believe that the bridal car was very near the and the request of a hotel limousine had to be ruled out. Alas! the bridal car arrived at a quarter-past four on a scheduled four pm ceremony. Worse of it all, I learned that as Lenna and her mother, ma'm Lorna have ridden on the white bridal car. Refuelling had to me made plus the bridal car driver's non-familiarity on how to get to the church.
We soon realized that we arrived way ahead of the bridal car. We were rushing to approach an uphill facade of the church. The bridal march was definitely late.
Tension has build-up in the area as I can understand how some people were feeling stressd-out and worried about the bride's late arrival. I myself was feeling frustrated about the late arrival of the bride. It's a good thing the bride's commissioned coordinators have themselves composed for this kind of confusion. Its so unfortunate that the wedding coordinators are always to be blamed for untowardness and unforseen circumstances. No one has every thought of a stressful wedding procession. I admire the bride's composure for the incident considering it was her day and she wouldn't allow this to ruin her composure.The church ladies to my sentiments, added up to the incidents' stressfull scenario. The bridal march commenced even without notice of the bride's arrival.

It's was "grace under pressure"! Lenna arrived forty five minutes behind schedule, composed herself, appreared "stress-free" and dealt the incident like a true diplomat. Hats-off to the bride's mother who also very composed. I thought me and my staff were emotionally hit by this undexpected proceedings. The wedding coordinators did it splendidly! I cannot imagine the kind of composure they shoed in this kind of boo-boos. The culprit? who else? but the bridal limousine service. I was consoled when Lenna and Marlon informed me that it was just that incident that got so nerve wracking. From the ceremony, everyone proceeded to the reception and party started. Over-all, it was a well-celebrated event that is worth the efforts.

Joel and Michelle decided to commission me to do their attires for their wedding. It was a privileged indeed. Michelle have given me a peg to work on though eventually we both agreed to come up with another design. Joel had chosen an exquisitely designed piña - barong material for his ensemble. Michelle is working for a giant food manufacturing corporation and Joel is working for a multinational service provider here in Manila. Michelle had finally opted for a very expensive but appropriate bridal bouquet to perfectly match her gown. Its the "Lilly of the Valley" which I consider one of the most elegant, feminine and dainty flower for a bride's bouquet.

Come wedding day, was most exciting for the couple. More so for Michelle as I observe her ambivalence but at the same time emotional moments while preparing for her wedding. It was a moment worth the wait. We accompanied her to the ceremony venue and made sure that along with my staff, we were able to attend to her needs for that most special day.

Its was Michael and Katherine's turn to tie the knot. Anne is Michael's older sister from whom I had the privilege of creating their attires for their wedding years back. This is a testimony of satisfaction and I was trusted again to do Anne's brother Michael's wedding to Katherine, a soft spoken but real nice bride-elect.
It was just the right time when we arrived at the hotel where Katherine has decided to dress up. The coordinator has greeted us and welcome us to the room. It was a very commendable gesture.
A first glimpse of the bride finally made-up and dressed in her wedding attire was a revelation. Kathrina was so pretty and radiant in her dress. I myself didn't realize that the gown would definitely flatter her figure and create a beautiful and elegant bride. The hair and make-up was fabulously made. Jackie's skill hasn't tarnished a bit as a wedding hair and make-up artist. One of the underrated make-up artist and yet with world class craftsmanship. How can Kathrina go wrong with this talent? Photographers and videographers were busy documenting the wedding.
From the hotel, we proceeded to the ceremony venue still to assist Kathrina until she commences with her wedding march. Guest has filled up the garden chapel.
The weather cooperated well with them. As we left the chapel, I knew it would be a well celebrated wedding.

Twyne at Eighteen ( Christine O. Durmiendo Debut, August 15, 2009)

I've known Twyne (or Tintin), since she was a little girl. She's Romy and Ondette's daughter, dear friends that I've known way back in medical school. Oh well, there's got a lot to be grateful for getting into med school. I've met a lot of wonderful real people. Time flies so fast, I was surprised when Ondette called me that Twyne's 18th birthday was fast approaching and being her designer for so many years , once again, she has entrusted her daughter's ball dress fit for her 18th birthday.

It was a masquerade themed debut and I used colors that best describe Twyne. I also made the dress for the Ondette and Sophia, their youngest daughter and my "inaanak" as well. That's how bonded we are all these years. We do not frequent each other's company but the warmth of the friendship has stayed. It was a modest event. The venue was at the Plaza Ibarra along Timog Avenue in Quezon City. The food was great and was had so much choices and was more than enough for all their invited guests. Twyne saw to it that her party was planned very well. From the invites, to the physical set up and props of the event was meticulously handled by the celebrant herself. The cotillion dance was well executed. You will definitely see the closeness of their family with there relatives as this was an all Durmiendo - Olifernes Event Productions. Along with the other programs of the event, it was a success.

I can't do a Houdini this time. Its very seldom that I stay thru the entire celebration. But of course there will be exceptions. This was one of them. The turnout of this event is one to be remembered. I look forward to Sophia's turn.

Venjie is one of the many on-line brides I had. I should have posted this blog two months ago. Its a late posting for me. But all I have are fine words to describe this couple who tied the knot and at the same time celebrate their long years of union blessed with two children. Venjie is a Las Vegas-based nurse and works at the
NICU(Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)section of the Pediatrics Department. Having experienced myself as a junior medical intern and a post-graduate intern back in medical school, I know how stressful it is working in that kind of ICU section for newborns. Dave and the kids are based here in Manila.

The working relationship was based purely on an on-line arrangement and short messaging. Venjie was very pleasant, easy to please and because we feel we have this commonality of experience with patients, it even became a lot easier for us to jive and develop a very good long distance rapport. Of course Dave is not to be left behind as he saw to it that despite his work schedule and taking care of the kids, he is synchronised with us with progress. It was even a more pleasant atmosphere when I finally met Venjie in person. My appreciation and delight for the wide Starbucks mug from Las Vegas and the wonderul vanilla room scent Venjie gave me as my "pasalubong"(souvenir gift). Since their wedding will take place in Samar, I felt so priviledged that she opted to have their family's attire made here in Manila by me and got the rest of her suppliers in th neighboring cities of the provinces in Visayas. The first fitting was almost to perfect. Thanks to the ever reliable measurement guide form I get to send to my overseas bride. I was very happy she liked the gown the moment I sent her the pictures via e-mail and the more she appreciated it when she fitted it the first time. It had always been a consistent experience for me that overseas brides are very easy to please and a lot easier to work with. Its July now and she still e-mails me back for her apparel concerns. It was a very pleasant experience for me working for Dave and Venjie. Dave looked gorgeous in his piña-silk barong attire with beige sinuksok details. Tying the knot at the St. Bartholomew Parish in Catbalogan Samar, the reception immediately followed at Tia Anita's Garden.

I salute the head organizers of the event namely, Joey and Audie Espino of Runway Productions. They are a big contribution to the status and future of the fashion industry of the country. Its no big joke to mount many shows in just week dedicated to fashion.

You get to meet new designers, young designers, provincial but established and noted designers in their locale. It was nerve wracking at the back stage as we tried to make sure that our respective collections are well and place and the models wear the clothes properly with the matched shoes and accessories. Some of us were priveledged to be interviewed by televison network anchormen for their program shows.
The hair and make-up team headed by Jinky Ilusorio did the fabulous make up. Who else but Jackie Rivera the expert stylist did the tower hair-do for the models. I had a great model line-up with Justine Gabionza, Sandra Seifert (Newly crowned Miss Philippines- Earth 2009), Lynn Roxas, Merille Raagas, and six more fantastic models
wearing my clothes on the runway. My office staff Dina and Jacqui did an exellent job in assisting the models change their dress.

It was a quick ramp for the 10-pc collection I had . "Puttin' On the Ritz" by Falco, an 80's song provided the gliding mood for the models. Justine was the last to walk. A fabulous tableu formation showcased my collections once more and it was my turn to make a curtain call. It was a full house and I could see my friends and clients despite the glaring lights on the runway.

There were 15 designer participants for the grand allure show and I was the 5th on cue. Indeed was a fast phased ramp for the models. The show ended close to an hour that was just fitting enough making sure that 150 collections were viewed by the audience and not being dragged and stoned watching our collections for over an hour.

Verdict: the show was a success! My gratitude to all my clients, friends, staff and peers in the industry who showed support for me. An most of all my family who were all there for me.

My mind is pre-occupied with the forthcoming Philippine Fashion Week from May 26 till June 3, 2009. Events will be held at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia
Complex. I'll be presenting a 10-piecee collection for the GRAND ALLURE show on FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2009, 6:00 PM. After an absence last year, I'm back and will be presenting a different concept and inspiration for the show. Still working on my collections. Fitting of the dresses is scheduled third week this month. There's still a lot to do with the pieces. I hope to beat the deadline. Cata Figueroa is directing our show with Runway Productions Joey and Audie Espino, heading the event. Over 100 designers are participating and I'm one of the priviledged designers to be in this undertaking.
I continously aspire to be a well-rounded designer. My specialty indeed is on weddings. However, I believe a designer should be in experience with the many facets of fashion. As the saying goes, "Respect is not demanded, its earned." Working hard to establish my niche not just in the wedding industry but on a bigger scale which is the Fashion industry. Its not about being famous of course! Its about being recognized and respected on the primary aspect of it all, FASHION. I would just evaporate on thin air to be tagged as a "first-class modista". For whatever the nasty meaning and branding is , I would never want to be in their league. The quest continues for me.

An Athletic Debutant ( Nadine Castillo Debut, February 28, 2009)

It's one of those inquiry that I get from the internet. Amy, Nadine's mom was my inquiry client. It was going to be the 18th birthday of their only daughter, Nadine.
Nadine is a second year university student at my ANIMO alma mater. A member of the Tennis team of De La Salle University. She is every inch a girl and a lady at that.
Their family is originally from Lipa, Batangas and her folks are happy and proud that their "unica hija" is already a lady. Of course like, my commitments to my bride-clients, a debutant can no more be an exception to my commitment. Me and my staff went to her dressing venue and made sure that all their concerns are being attended to.

Like any other 18th birthday celebration, the event started behind schedule. They had to wait for important guests travelling all the way from Lipa.
But all is well that ends well. After Nadine's introduction, she had a very dramatic red carpet entrance and this celebrant was singing her way through this traditional entrance of the celebrant. The venue was full of guests who came to celebrate her coming out party.

Neri was a former entourage from a previous bride-client of mine. I'm so glad she got me to do her wedding gown along with most of the female entourage including the flowergirls. Not to mention Doy's groom's attire. Neri is working for a hotel group based in Makati and Doy is assigned in Mindoro. Not exactly a long distance relationship, they managed to fixed their schedules to see to it that we both will not encounter difficulties with fittings. This wedding was worth the efforts. As always we made it on time.

I met Angela in a bridal fair and got a positive result from there. She booked with us months before her wedding date. Angela is working for a well known multinational IT company and dabbles into wedding coordination. Sam is American-Chinese based in California and they have finally decided to tie the knot despite their long distance relationship which defies the thought of "long distance relationship does not work".
This is reality and they made it happen. Though Angela did most of the leg works, Sam had been constantly in touch with prepartions.
I made sure that Angela's endorsments to us were meant especially the details for her sleeves. Other than that, she gave me the free hand to design for her entourage. She wanted a simple but definitely and elegant piece for each of the female entourage. Come wedding day, Angela was stunning in her white wedding gown. A statuesque bride to mention.
She was relaxed all the way only for a minor incident with her bridal limousine which was not addressed properly by the hotels valet. Other than that, it was smooth sailing all through out. My wish for a marital bliss for such a wonderful bride like Angela. She is a darling.

The Overseas Couple ( Alcantara - Acervo Wedding, December 21, 2008)

It was Mrs. Lilia Alcantara who came to me and luckily committed with me to create the entire female apparael concerns for Lalaine getting married to their son, Richard. Richard and Lalaine were very lucky to have someone attend to their wedding preparations with such order and systematized way. My contract was really discussed and Ma'm Lilia made sure that all the items on the agreement was well understood and to be carried out with accordingly. I was up with our schedule and arrangment.

Much as to Ma'm Lilia's diligence with follow-up, we made sure that teh very nitty gritty concerns were addressed. When the couple finally arrived, I would have presumed that bulk of the job have been accomplished. I'm pretty certain that Lalaine was pleased with how we handled her endorsements and concerns. The couple's parents were very pleasant and amiable. Result? It was a well coordinated undertaking. Me and my staff went to the Hotel where both families stayed for dressing up. It was a stress free, organized preparation at the hotel. Going to the
church was even a more orderly assembly. Everyone was dressed up well and the bridal march was so smooth. I hugged Lalaine before she finally marched the aisle.
It was a good feeling of fulfillment for me.

My Other Morning Wedding in December ( Almoite - Abata Wedding, December 20, 2008)

Jam and Restie are getting married in an old church in Makati. Restie is based in New Zealand and Jam was left to do their wedding preparations most of the time.
Jam is working with Smart Communications a local telephone service provider. We came up with a gown design that would be able to flatter her lean built. As soon as Restie arrived, we realized that Restie has been with Jam everytime she comes to us for her concerns and fittings.
Come wedding day, it was a stress free undertaking for us. We came to Jam's dressing place and accompanied her to the church, made sure she was properly groomed until the church doors opened for the bridal traditional march. It was just a not so pleasant thing with the church coordinators who most of the time plays to be a "know it all, this is our turf!, bride's coordinators' keep off the grass area! attitude were they can be so insensitive and inconsiderate to the bride's concerns prior to the bridal march. Some things needs to be negotiated with them somehow. It was Leslie and Jam's day. Let not this bullying be a hindrance to this milestone.

A windy,chilly tuesday afternoon, Rommel and Claire were set to tie the knot.
It was a good thing that traffic wasn't so bad then when we travelled southbound passing thru SLEX (South Luzon Expressway) aside from the never ending road improvements. Rommel is working for an Alabang based computer Company while Claire is undergoing her residency training program in Internal Medicine at the Medical City. It was a good thing that Rommel was constantly in touch with us along with Lynn (Claire's kin) who was always busy with her schedule and couldn't attend to her wedding preps constantly. Some members of her entoruage flew in from abroad so we had to be aware of fitting schedules and adjustments to the last minute.
Everyone was busy grooming and dressing up on the two-bedroom suite they got for the preparation room. We came at least way ahead from Claire's time to change to her wedding dress. There was much excitement in the room as you will feel the bonding Claire's family have. Rommel's family on the other room was busy attending to their
preparation as well. It was a good thing we were there all these time attending to Claire's last minute concern with her dress. It was going to be an evening cermony. A romantic one at that with full of emotions for the couple. My staff had some time taking pictures of their own at the magnificent venue. The evening lights were just fantastic and romantic for a wedding event. Rommel and Claire did a good choice on where to host this important event in their lives.

It pays to follow-up clients. Agnes and King have decided to commission us to do the wedding apparels of for the bride along the entire female entourage. From a resort village community in Laurel,Batangas they transferred to a much better venue in Talisay, Batangay passing to the cliff roads in Tagaytay. This couple turned out to be one of the most friendly and intelligent couple we had. Intelligent? because they knew all along that the moment they step into a designer's office, they know how the designer should work for them.

Although I believe in collaborated work when it comes to the designs, I did not hear any unfavorable comments from them and believed in me that what I would be designing for them is appropriate and would come
out well for their wedding. From day one to the wedding date itself, I have but praises for these couple. They were supposed to be the star of the show but they were never premaddonish on any given day that we met.
There wasn't much glitches on their wedding. It was not perfect. King and Agnes were not perfect. Maybe their level of imperfection were not geared towards negativity but because they have this virtue of trust and positive attitude that things will be good for them. They did not succeed very much on that concern. But it did not hamper the success of their wedding. It was indeed a milestone for King and Agnes being able to share with most of their guests an experience worth remembering for years to come. Maybe some were not so happy but my thoughts can just pinpoint with my two fingers. The cool windly place of the event even made it more exciting.

From the highlands we drove down to the midlands for the ceremony. There was much air of joy as everyone was arriving and me and my staff were noticing the gathering of their friends, relatives and colleagues. It was time to start. Close to about half-an hour delayed (definitely not because of the bride and groom nor their principal sponsors and immediate family) from the time of commencement.
But as the march started and Agnes has transferred from the can to the golf cart, excitemet has further set in. The chapel's doors finally opened and King was waiting for Agnes. There was much emotions that poured in. It was a wedding not just in mid-sky but a wedding made in heaven.

My Last Weekend Wedding for November (Medina - de Leon Wedding, November 22, 2008)

Leo and April tied the knot today. Both working for Citibank, came to me months ago and gave me the free hand of coming up with the design for their apparels. Leo agreed on coming up with a pina-barong with sinuksok style incorporating their color motif of old rose and orange in small highlights not overpowering the base color of the pina material. The details of the barong of was inspired from the turn of the 20th century pattern with front full opening. April on the other hand opted for a Filipiniana-inspired western-styled gown using silk gazar material.

Each time they came to me, they were always accompanied by April's folk whom I find very nice, pleasant and friendly. Never a time I felt that their folks' likings were imposed nor insisted as far as the designs were concerned. This is a wedding bliss!

Ma'm Lynn came to see me thinking that she was to be a principal sponsor in a big wedding that I was doing weeks back. I realized she was the mother-in-law of Aimee Alvarez, a good client of mine.

Sir Fred and Ma's Lynn was celebrating their 50 years wedding anniversary and I was tasked to create a filipiniana terno in pina.
The lead time was kinda short but we tried to create a gown for her finishing the gown days before. The most fulfilling thing was the bride's expression of appreciation of the anniversary wedding gown we made for her. A sweet, well mannered, kind hearted bride along with her partner, Sir Fred for half-a-century.
Their expression of appreciation of my work was unending and I am humbled. I felt so fulfilled that this kind of client was being awarded to me to work on ther requirements. Both Sir Fred and Ma'm Lynn are real nice couple. God Bless this wonderful couple on their renewal of their marriage vows.

I thought when they came to me the first time, I made a good impression. I was right and even received an e-mail from Mark about their appreciation of my accomodation to them during their inquiry. I was rewarded for that. Mark and Chiori was on a simple wedding and have commissioned me to do their wedding attires.
With 18 guests on the line, it was a real intimate wedding with just their families to witness the event.
No maid of honor, no bridesmaids, no flowergirls. Each member of the family took the task of being part of the ceremonial undertakings in a Catholic wedding. Chiori's family flew all the way from Japan and how emotional I guess it was for seeing her family fly to Manila and witness the profession of their marriage vows. Chiori and Mark are appreciative of the efforts we extended them.
Mark is Manila based working for a multinational consumer company based in Makati and he met Chiori here in Manila. I felt that despite the simplicity of this event, it was made in heaven.

Me and my staff came to Reena's dressing venue earlier than my call time. We just finished assisting a bride in the morning in the same hotel. The preparation ran on a very smooth phase and had time to do a lot of picture taking. I recall doing the wedding apparel for Loi's (the grrom) brother years back. Everything went smoothly until we were on our way to the church and the traffic got on us.
It was even our first time to go to the church as we were finding our way. Luck was on our side and we got to the church a few minutes before the bridal march commenced. It was nice to see the Loi's parents again. Reena's folks was a delight as well. They were easy to please and I'm thankful for their trust on us. Reena wanted a not so traditonal wedding dress. We infused shades of green on the wedding dress as part of the embellishments. It was a long day for us. We headed back to the office as soon as the bride and groom have positioned themselves on the altar and the ceremony commenced.

Destined to be Married (Bautista - Alvarez Wedding, November 8, 2008)

I was informed that this wedding was originally planned to be in October. For some relevant reasons, the date was moved to an earlier date, July. We were all on the drawing board, collaborating with the couple Ping and Guila. Of course it was more on Guila's turf telling me what she wanted as far as the designs of her wedding gown along with her entire female entourage nine of whom are bridesmaids. As we were continously doing the planning, an untoward incident occured and the date was moved much later for November. Finally, the time as come I knew the deferment of the date was for the better and we pulled it off.
We were at Guila's bridal suite before seven in the morning. As expected, preparations were on its way and the mood was very relaxed. I was even got the chance to chat with Guila's mom, Shelly.

This is one wedding I will trully miss. From the bride and groom, to the moms, to all female the entourage and to think they were quite in number, we never encountered any annoying incident. They were all nice and pleasant and how we wished all of our clients will always be like them. They trusted us all the way and we didn't fail them. Guila rode in a vintage Mercedez Benz limousine proceeding to the church. She looked very radiant with her fabulously made hair and make-up comlimenting her wedding gown. The flowers were likewise beautiful. Ping looked dashing in his turn of the century designed barong which we also did. The church was packed with the couple's relatives, friends, colleagues. Despite all the changes, this was a wedding in destiny.

Nacho and Gedi availed of my services months back before the date of their union. Both professionals, Gedi is working for a multinational company based in Makati while Nacho is with a Hotel Group along Ortigas Center. Gedi appeared to be a soft-spoken subdued lady but made sure that her concerns and choices were addressed.

Nacho on the other end is a typical hotelier possessing qualities for public relations and diplomacy. He is such a coherent groom,open-minded, very pleasant and
supportive of Gedi's concerns. We went through with the design of Gedi's wedding gown seeing to it that her ideas and concerns were being taken as a guide and reference. It was a classic looking wedding dress. Very simple and yet exuded a touch of class and elegance. Nacho looked dashing and very much refreshed as a groom looking so youthful and vibrant in his pina-barong with nacar jewel buttons and cuff links. It was indeed a transformation of a day-to-day Gedi to a beautiful and radiant bride. It was my first time to work with their chosen coordinator but I'ved been acquainted with him way before. I noticed his being very articulate and meticulous in his craft as he leads his team of coordinators. One of the leading reliable and bankable roaster of PAWP (Philippine Association of Wedding Planners)members whom I'ved worked with. Everything turned out to be well. They were on time and bridal march commenced.

Marissa is an overseas bride based in Dubai whom I met via the internet. After a few correspondence with her, I was fortunate enough to get her nod and commission to do her wedding gown. It has been a complete trust all the way. Having to go out of my way to help her with a few more arrangements like recommending a florist and getting a bridal car for her. Some consultations as far as dressing venue was part of my assistance to her concerns. Sometimes I get to be a consultant with her concerns.
Her father came to my offfice to do the downpayment and the rest was just a continous communication via e-mail and voice calls. I was very lucky to have her as a bride-client. Never had she acted like a bridezilla considering that I wasn't able to personally supervise with her two fittings. She was composed all the way and was very happy with how her wedding gown turned out. Just as how she thought it would be. I even surpassed her expectations and there was so much amount of appreciation we received from her. It was not of a high-profiled type of wedding celebration for Marissa and xxxxxx but I witnessed the festive mood of a wedding celebration for the couple. We came all the way from a wedding at Subic and made sure that we catch Marissa a do some last fixing on her gown and look. I guess some things were really meant to be.

I've known Des about three years ago. That was the time she was preparing for her grand wedding. Indeed, it took some time and has finally come to its day. It was a big preparation for us along with the other suppliers. She basically resides at the SBMA and has decided to hold her wedding there. She aspires for nothing but the best and got all her suppliers in Manila each with a very good reputation not just as a supplier but as a specialist in our respective catgory. It was vey amusing as she has decided to make me part of her entourge along with another designer friend Dennis Martin.
Its like there is no way I can leave as soon as the bride commences with her march and yes I was stucked to the wedding having to march first than Des. Her wedding planner JP Montilla was her designated "Man of Honor" and have become a dear friend to Des. Des has a particular sense of magic and charisma that pulls us towards her.
She is such a simple, charming and darling friend. Robert is a fine, elegant and diplomatic gentleman. A military man by profession, you'll notice in him the subtleness but integrity of a person. Des is an accounting consultant just one of her accomplished career with the different firms based in Subic. The wedding has finally transpired but our friendship and closeness will have to stay. It may not be about the physical closeness but is digged down deep.

Brian and Athena had this idea of having designs of her wedding gown along with the other bridal apparels inspired during the roaring 20's. I had to conceptualize non-traditonal wedding gown designs and present it to Athena. It was a quick choice for her from the start as she knew it was going to come out very well. Athena's anticipation was correct. She handpicked the design of the lace herself and we had the design executed and came out as we conceptualized it.
Brian is a businessman attending to his family's business as his folks and siblings are all based overseas. Athena on the otherhand is a resident in surgery in a tertiary hospital in Mandaluyong City . The bride's meticulousness and my diligence to Athena's concerns paid off and with the Brian's undending support and assistance and we were all happy with the outcome. Athena's mom was supportive all the way as well. Of course I'm pretty certain that their respective families gave a 100% support in what ever effort there is to dedicate to the couple's preparation of their wedding.

I received many complementary comments even with from groom with Athena's gown. I did Brian's black tuxedo as well and it came out real nice along with the ascot tie. It was worth the efforts.

Diane have booked with us as early as 9 months back. It Will be another 9 months from now before a new celebration is to be prepared?

For now, its their wedding which is on focus. Mark and Diane are both computer science degree holders coming from my alma mater school. ANIMO......, Rektikanooh!

As the other schools' banner cheer, "one big fight!" declares is always a thrill.

Going back to their wedding, I felt that they were not the "stressful" type of couple. Diane? definitely not a "bridezilla" as we tag them in the wedding industry.
An articulate lady full of talent.

She knew what she wanted. Of course, I had to come up with the design based on her
style. The colors went well. She overcame her foot accident and made it to the aisle.

The preparation room of the hotel was filled up with her friends and of course suppliers like us.

Verbal energy was just high on that day. Almost everyone, except us(suppliers) was
kinda ecstatic or I'd say excited for Diane's wedding day. On the other hand, I gave it a thought that they could just be like that every given day given the chance
to have a get together.

It took us both to arrive at a final design for her wedding dress. As this vibrant lady would give me surprises all throughout. I guess it was only during the design part that we have to squeeze in more efforts as we eventually did it.

Years have passed, Bubbles was my co-junior intern back in the late nineties during medical school days. I remember some co-interns including Bubbles riding with me on my way home from Valenzuela to Makati plying the EDSA route each time dropping of a peer along the way.

After a long time, we've crossed path again this time , Bubbles tying the knot with
Junnie. A pediatrician and a surgeon in unity with marriage.
For now, they have decided to go on civil wedding rites ceremony.

Sonya's Garden in Alfonso, Cavite passing thru Tagaytay was the venue both for the ceremony and reception. It was a drizzling but manageable afternoon wedding. Bubble has remained to be a sweet person. They were meant to be. It all written in their faces. A happy wedding indeed.

It was over a year a go when Tere came to my office for an appointment.

I remember doing her hospital jackets during her internship days at the Makati Medical Center. I met Tere thru my school mate Nani Flores back at the Fatima College of Medicine, her co-intern at that time.

Now an emergency medicine specialist based in Sydney, Tere is tying the knot with Philip here in Manila. Philip is with Qantas Airways.

This is where both families converge to witness the union of Philip and Tere.

Tere was staying at room 846 of the Peninsula Manila for her dressing and Philip was at the Renaissance Hotel along with his family. It was really cool seeing Philip, Chris Lawrence (Bestman) and John (Father of the Groom) all in Barong Tagalog.
Everything and everyone was on time and on schedule. Very organized.

A Union Meant to be ( Joson - Gomez Wedding, June 8, 2008)

A sort of a fastrack wedding in a sense that arrangments took just over a month to prepare. Its a not so common thing now a days for it would usually take at least 6 to 8 months to a year to prepare for a wedding. Angela and Philip just broke the routeAngela is a sweet subdued lady up on her chosen career and Philip is on his last few stretch for his second degree. A health professional in the making.
Come wedding day, we headed for the Legend Villa where Angela and Philip's family were dressing up. It was Reniel Cadiz doing the hair and make-up of Angela as well as her family. Angela's flowers were created for her by Lawrence of Angel of Hearts.

From Mandaluyong City, we travelled all the way to Damar Village in Quezon City where the ceremony will be held. From Immaculate Conception Parish the entire bridal entourage with their guests proceed to Casa Espanol for the reception. So nice and accomodating couple and family they were to us for such a short working relations. It well worth it.

Both based in Singapore, they were recomended by a good friend Vincent "Bing" Ramiscal a professional photographer here in Manila but was staying in Singapore at that time. It was Benjie who came here months back to prepare for their wedding and got the priveledge of being his chosen designer for their wedding. As we noted how detailed Benjie was, we made sure that his concerns are addressed and e-mails responded. My assistant Paulo have always been in charge with e-mail follow-ups with clients. Of course endorsements are made daily which keeps me abreast of client follow-ups and developments. I appreciated Benjie's being a realistic client in the sense that he listens to suggestions and appreciates our effort in doing all the follow-ups necessary. Me and my staff arrived at 8:00 in the morning at the Makati Shangri-la room 1425 where they were staying. Eventual reception will also be held in the Hotel. Life's Celebration lead by Ruby Alvarez was their coordinator as well as their florist. It was great to be working side by side again with a long time friend Eddie Bruan and his staff composed of Norman and Marina who did the hair and make-up of the bride and the entourage. Card Prints did the weddding invites. Paul Vincent Photography was taking care of the photography with Shierdan Pamintuan doing video capturing. Everything went on as scheduled. Departing the hotel headed for the Manila Metropolitan Cathedral in Intramuros was a long drive but we all managed the inconvenient slow traffic flow assisted by police escorts.
Benjie and Mayette rode in a six-door Mercedez Benz limousine from Trans-Abi. Everything fell into places. At leasts for the dresses. I'm pretty confident Benjie and Mayette did the right choice of suppliers for their wedding.

FWDP in a Bridal Fair at the SMX Convention Center

The new SMX Convention Center at the SM Mall of Asia Complex. A world-class structure in intself. Chu-u-yen Events headed by Manuel Chua mounted the first ever bridal fair at this venue. We wanted to be part of history as the two-day bridal fair unfolds. Myself, Susie Bonaobra, Michelle Lim, Edwin Uy and Carmen Lazaro joined this momentous event. We were priveledged to be part of this underrated event which turned out to be a huge success. The audience turn out was very impressive. As informed by Manuel Chua himself, the registered guests were only numbered to about 2,000. Come the two-day event, they recorded a total of 5,000 audience that came to the event. Manuel Chua was vindicated as he was telling me of some of our colleagues in the wedding industry who has belittled this event.
I was happy to see Benz and John of Weddings at Work.com who is the main on-line media partner of this event. They've been around all these years and W@W's followings has never diminished. Congratulations to Chu-u-yen events!

An Awaited Wedding Event (Lambooij - Pantig Wedding, May 3, 2008)

Karen Pantig, started as my client, eventually a friend and now a bride-elect. Life had always been good to her. A wonderful family, a good career and a bunch of "amigas para siempre" from high school and college. Tjerk is an addition to her blessings. Of Dutch origin they've schedule their union today and together with their families and friends witnessed a new beginning in their lives. For a 2:00pm wedding we arrived at Karen's dressing venue around a quarter past eleven. Room 1201 of the Makati Shangri-la Hotel was our first stop for Karen's dressing. It's so nice a to see such an awesome ambiance in the room with everyone filled with excitement and of course with Karen's humor.
Joyce Aguilar of 2171 Floral Creations outdid herself again. Karen loved her bridal bouquet in blush pink Colombian roses and whitish pink lisanthus highlighted with snap dragons and berries. Her bouquet definitely matched the wedding gown I created for her. The flowers for the entourage was likewise beautiful. Threelogy has started to cover video footage of Karen's preparation. John Mateos Ong headed by John of course was also there in charge of photography. Karen and Tjerk's invitations made by Printsonalities was a stand out. It was my third straight wedding working side by side with make-up artist , Reniel Cadiz. I must say, consistent with his craft working with Rey Arciaga doing the hairstyles of the ladies. Who can not notice the presence of Events Expert with Jody Liwanag as their team leader.
I must agree to the fact that indeed, we were Karen's dream team. Nstra. Sra. de Gracia (Guadalupe Church) was the ceremony venue. The heat and humidity of the climate is really to reckon with. We were all helpless though we were managing the warm temperature. Anahaw fans were distributed to somehow help everyone with the warm environment. Ceremony started 5 minutes earlier but everything was ready. As the bridal march commenced, Bernie Pasamba provided the music accompaniment.
From the wedding ceremony, everyone is to proceed at the North Forbes Park Pavilion for the reception with K Cunanan as her chosen caterer. I did a Houdini again. Right after Karen has reached the altar, me and my staff left and headed back to the office to attend to other concerns. Yes she did asked me to be in the banquet. But it had always been my preference to witness the ceremony than the party. Well the reality of it all is that, every time a bride marches the aisle, my sense of relief sets in but the stress consequence also gets to me. The feeling of fatigue has taken over me.

Exchange of Vows In a Spanish Theme (Reyes - Hugo Wedding, May 2, 2008)

Six months ago, I received an e-mail inquiry from a bride-elect asking about theme weddings. Rosed (pronounced as Ro-sed) Hugo had a Spanish theme on her mind and was referring to me her concepts with apparels for her wedding day with Paolo Reyes. A relatively young couple, Paolo and Rosed are enterpreneurs focused on two fields of business.

Rosed has decided to become a full time business person when she opted to leave a big multinational company specializing in personal products. Paolo a son of a well established name business in the field of grooming and wellness. I enjoyed working for them not just because these couple were nice and easy to please but also because their parents were equally pleasant and confident to us. I was very impressed with how they gave me their complete trust and did not pretend to know-how and update of styles and designs for their gowns. Goes the same with four of their six female principal sponsors (Nory, Vivian, Anabel and Maricon)whom I was tasked to create for their respective gowns. It gave me more inspiration to work harder for their concerns.
Come their wedding day, we were advised by their wedding planner and coordinator Erika Que of Perfect Moments of their room number at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza.
As we entered room 652 where Rosed was, the room was filled with friends , relatives and wedding suppliers like us busy with work.
Louie Allan Photography and Videography was taking turns documenting the event. I was just working side by side with them last week in a wedding in Tagaytay. Rosed and Paulo gave me a Spanish-inspired wedding invitation they themselves designed. Make-up team comprised of hair and make-up artists from Carlo Reyes Salon. Rosed had more than enough time to take pictures at the hotel afterwhich we all headed to San Agustin Church in Intramuros for the wedding ceremony. Summer has really been imposing at this time. It was warm and humid.
We can definitely feel the water droplets sliding in our body. But this is such a great event! we didn't mind the heat after all. This event is a milestone for Paolo and Rosed and we felt so priveledge to have been part of this wedding preparation. Reception for this union immediately fotallowed at the Spanish ambianced venue at the Villa Immaculada with Steve Tamayo as the exclusive caterer.

A Blossomed Long Distance Relationship (Weber - Posoga Wedding, April 26,2008)

I'ved known the bride Rowena or Weng for sometime. She was at that time a bank officer in the branch where I have an account. This is a hardworking lady. Her wedding preparations have always taken a backseat giving more time and priority to her work. I knew she was running out of time. I never gave up on her. My way of expressing my appreciation on how she attends to my concerns as a bank client. Her
destined husband to be is Roderick, a Riyadh based Doctor of Optometry who has been practicing there for a decade. Not much of a story that I know about them but they were destined for each other with their blossomed long distance relationship.
Coming all the way from Tagaytay from another wedding, we rushed back to Makati headed for St. John Bosco Parish for the ceremony. Of course I had to advice her that I will just be catching them at the church. I had two staffs go to her earlier to assist her with her dressing. Not much details that I know of her wedding team. Reception followed at Makati Park with Eloquente as her chosed banquet caterer.

A Grecian Inspired Wedding (Bajenting - Soriano Wedding, April 26, 2008)

It just amuses me why road repairs and constructions in our major highways have never come to its end. At ten o'clock in the morning we are at SLEX bound for Tagaytay City a favorite wedding destination in Luzon. Road undertakings have slowed down our travel but still managed to get there as scheduled. Our destination was Carol's dressing venue at room 132 of Taal Vista Hotel. It was also Duke's chosen place to dress up. Louie Allan was on the move taking pictures and capturing video footage of the things taking place inside the bride's room. Raniel Cadiz team did the bride along with some entoruage's hair and make-up.
I immediately noticed the blush pink bouquet of the bride along with the entourage
flowers made for them by Joyce Aguilar of 2171 Floral Creations. Carol still opted to have more crystal ornaments from us for her hair aside from the crystals provided by Raniel. All the entourage were wearing gowns in Grecian-inspired look. From the hotel, Don Bosco's Chapel on the Hill was the next stop for the ceremony event. JP Montilla's Complete Work, Inc is running the whole event. Carol rode in a vintage
Studebaker Automobile provided by Don Robert's Car Rentals. The chapel was packed with guests and relatives numbering to 290 as mentioned by JP. As soon as the march procession commenced, we assisted Carol as she got off from the bridal car and made sure that the gown is well in place along with the veil. Of course, her every reliable coordinator JP did the last fixings of the gown and veil when Duke and Carol have landed on the altar. Our work is finished, its 2:30pm and we have to rush back to Makati to check on our other bride for her afternoon wedding.

Summer Wedding at Subic (Amador - Camagay Wedding, April 19, 2008)

Rose and Ruel, both physical therapists based in Ivory, California tied the knot at the air-conditioned Dewey Chapel at the Subic Freeport (SBMA). I met Rose over eight months ago at the very effective medium, the internet. It was purely an e-mail communication and was very lucky that she entrusted her wedding apparel concerns to us. From the bride, to the groom to the entire female entourage including the gowns of the two moms. Not a bit of pressure did we experienced from her. There was complete trust all throughout from the design to the color choice and fabrics. This couple was a darling. Accomodating, pleasant and trusting. When she said yes to us, I knew it was going to be a 100% trust and confidence and true enough, my prediction was correct.
Who wouldn't want to assist this wonderful couple when I learned from all her major suppliers that they were as happy as I am for having them as a wedding client. Subic Bay Yacht Club was the venue for the reception and her preparation venue at room 325. We all felt the heat of the summer as we relized even the club's airconditioning cannot cope up with the warm and humid temperature. Rose and Ruel's dream team comprised of JP Montilla of Complete works as their wedding planner and coordinator, 2171 Floral Creation by Joyce Aguilar, Emily Uy of Sugar Box for their wedding cake, Nelson Villarica capturing and filming the precious moments, Reniel Cadiz for Rose's hair and face make-up.
Her bridal bouquet was a perfect blend to the wedding gown neatly created with the perfect size for Rose's bouquet comprised of white tulips and green cymbidiums flown all the way from Holland. Even the reception venue looked very elegant
appropriate with the flower decorations. Reniel's hair and make-up looked very beautiful and appropriate enhancing Rose's good skin and fair complexion. Nelson , Girlie and their whole team took advantage of the venue's awesome location and lay-out to express their artistic capturing of the couple's moments. Of course we made sure that we assisted Rose to the chapel's doorstep for her bridal march. It was a good thing that the chapel was indeed airconditioned. It was such a relief. I felt fulfilled with this work. And being happy as well. I wish for complete happiness and togetherness till eterny for them.

Life Celebration's Ruby Alvarez referred to me Jade Ablang and Laila Legaspi represented by Laila's sister and nephew. These wonderful couple are both based in Tokyo, Japan for many years now and has decided to finally tie the knot here in Manila. A typical example of clients based overseas but are very pleasant and easy to work with. Never did we ever experience any form of pressure from them. 100% trust and confidence was given to us and it made everything easy and comfortable for all of us. They commissioned us to do the apparels both for the male (barongs) and females (gowns). I realized how attentive their wedding planner was making sure that we were all synchronized and harmonious with our schedules and deadlines. The couple decided to dress up in an executive suite room 2127 at Diamond Hotel Philippines for their nuptial ceremony at San Agustin Church in Intramuros. Ghie Javelosa as friendly as ever was the photographer and videographer designate. Jackie Rivera did the hair and make-up. Life Celebrations provided the flowers and coordinated the wedding. Card prints did their wedding invites while TransAbi provided the six-door Mercedez Benz limousine for their bridal car. It was a heartfelt experience for me for these nice couple along with their friends who came home to be part of this celebration. Even their friends who flew in as part of the entourage were very nice and cordial. Of course we made sure to assist them up to the church. Laila was getting nervous and emotional. I wish for their happiness and lifetime commitment. Reception followed at the Hyatt Hotel and Casino.

My Lecture on Male Attires

Saturday, April 5, 2008, 4:45 pm. It was my second time to do a lecture for the advance course in wedding planning organized by PAWP (Philippine Association of Wedding Planners). A very limited number of wedding planners enhancing and legitimizing their status as wedding planners and coordinators. At least 3 of them flew all the way from Cebu and one coming from Malolos in Bulacan. The rest are based in Manila. EDSA Shangri-la Hotel had always been the venue for this twice a year seminar. I was tasked to make a lecture on the Male Attires for Weddings. Jason Magbanua was doing his share of lecture for videography when I arrived. My colleague Delby Bragais was in charge of the Female Attires and I was to follow next. Before I started my topic Delby and I raffled off books about wedding gowns to these very attentive group. After my lecture goes the tandem of Boyet and Jet Versoza of Josaiah's Catering for their topics which eventually wrapped up the first day of the seminar. As always, it was always a priveledge to be invited as a lecturer. It was always a delight for me sharing my knowledge and expertise when it comes to apparels. Kudos to PAWP!

A Real Summer Wedding (Palafox - Senier Wedding, March 28, 2008)

It was indeed summer at its peak. The weather forecast was at 34 centigrade . The heat and humidity was really on us. Its the wedding day of Karen and Charlie and not even the intense heat could hamper the wedding preparation. Karen opted to dress up at Fernwood instead of the usual Ortigas Center hotels. Charlie stayed in a Quezon City hotel most proximal to Fernwood Gardens. Wedding ceremony takes place at the St. Francis of Assisi Garden and the reception at the Courtyard of Fernwood. Alex del Rosario's Juan Carlo The Caterer was busy doing the banquet set up when we arrive. East Digital was doing the photo and video. Its my first time to work side-by-side with Amy Godianse of Forever and a Day, wedding planner designate by Karen and Charlie. The exclusive tie-up of Scenta Flora created the flowers for the bride, her entourage and the chapel's decoration.
Eric Bautista (my surname sake) was Karen's hair and make-up artist. It was an unconventional white bridal SUV (Ford Expedition) for Karen. Charlie looked dashing in his barong. What could go wrong? nothing! except for the intense heat, everything went well. I'm speaking only until Karen walked the aisle. Of course, I predicted it would be a great and momentous event for the couple.

My Booth at the Wedding Expo 12th edition at the PICC Tent

We arrived at around 3:30 pm at the PICC tent for our ingress for the wedding expo. Assigned to enter using dock B we made sure all exhibit materials were in for we intend to finish early and not wait for the last hour and avoid the rush for setting up.

My assistant Paulo, staff Belsan and driver Rumel were around to do the set up. My booth was assigned on corner area which made us come up with a better layout of our booth positioning the mannequins in diagonal position. Check the pictures for our set up. I also came up with a new flyer for this edition of the wedding expo.

Thank you to those who got our flyer out of their own will. We make it a point not to insist on giving away our flyers to all the audience who passes by our booth. My belief remains all these years of my being a wedding exhibitor. You don't have to insist on giving out your flyer to everyone that passes by your showcase. Let them look of what you showcased for the exhibit. Definitely, if it interests them, they will get your flyer and soon realize that they are communicating with you thru e-mail or thru appointment inquiries. Potential clients will not waste their time meeting up with you if they have no interest upon seeing your craft. After all, I wouldn't want to see my flyers being thrown to the garbage like the rest of the suppliers simply because they don't want it and worse of it is that they don't like it. Just reserved my booth for the 13th edition of the Wedding Expo this coming September.

Young Enterpreneurs and their Union of Hearts ( Calanasan - Canlas Wedding, February 9, 2008)

We were at room 813 of the Crowne Plaza were Juerl stayed for her wedding preparation for dressing up. It was my first time to work side-by-side by Robbie Penera and his partner Raymond doing the hair and make-up of Juerl and the two moms. Its Ariel Javelosa's Team of photographers and videographers capturing the event. "The Magical Event" was coordinating for Juerl and Eric's wedding sequences.
Angel of Hearts provided the bridal and the entourage bouquet including the moms' and the principal sponsors' nosegays. QP supplied the invitations given to us by the bride which always part of my souvenir and collection. Juerl rode in a Lincoln limousine from Trans Abi coordinated with Hizons Catering their chosen banquet supplier with Oasis being the reception venue. At 3 0'clock pm, we headed to the Parish of Mary the Queen in Little Baguio in San Juan for the ceremony and making sure that all the apparels we made for all the ladies were properly worn and fitted. It was a smooth undertaking. After seeing Juerl and Eric finally in front of the altar, I knew our work is finished. We are all happy! And my wish goes on to meet such wonderful couple-clients like them.

My First Ramp Show for 2008

Last thursday, February 7, at 7:00pm along with my FWDP colleagues comprising of Dennis Martin, Michelle Lim, Susie Bonaobra, Delby Bragais and Ruel Rivera showcased our bridal collections along with our ready-to-wear collections carrying the label of OKASYON by Michelle Lim at the TRINOMA MALL in Quezon City.
The event coincided with two two-day bridal enxhibit event organized by ISLAND EXHIBIT headed by Kim Caravana and of course the beginning of the calendar year of the rat for the Chinese people. It was the same organizing group that gave us the chance to showcase our bridal gowns a the Mega Trade Hall. As always, a collective effort by the more dedicated members. My appreciation to those who helped us in different ways. A group effort is always better than a lone effort.

My last wedding strech for the day. Rex and Gloria's vow exchange has finally come. These clients of mine are highly skilled professional people and I can attest to their importance to details. Its so touching to note of their patience, compassion and understanding to us and it has been easy to us to comply with their concerns. They have never perceived us as mechanical beings and were very considerate to comprehend a lot of subjective matters. All this time, they knew we were doing our best to attend to their needs and they never reprimanded us for anything. We we're up since 5:30 am to begin the day seeing to it the all brides we're dressing up tday will be able to dress up well.

We caught Gloria at room 925 at the Garden Wing of the EDSA-Shangri-la Hotel all dressed up as early at 1:00pm for her 5pm ceremony.
We'll she's catching up with pictorials for the hotel and the reception venue. We made sure that her petticoat is well in place along with the silk bouquet attached to her back and the dress fitted well. East Digital Photo and Video was busy taking pictures and videography simultaneously. The bridal bouquet along with the entire female entourage was provided by Angel of Hearts. Danny Capistrano was in-charge of the bridal hair and make-up.

The Social Connection headed by Celia Cunanan was tasked to run the entire event. A Christian ceremony for this wonderful pair and Reception both to be held at Gazebo Royale in Quezon City.

My Second Wedding for the Day ( Go - Lao Wedding, January 19, 2008)

Sheri Lao, a bride based in Toronto tied the knot with Louie Go. My sincerest appreciation to the kindness of the mother of the bride, Ms. Susana Lao, a very nice, soft-spoken, subdued and pleasant lady and the mother of the Groom Ms. Nancy Go, a casual, diplomatic, honest person. It was a pleasure to be working side by side for the first time with The Blushing Bride as the coordinator with Karen Marek being in constant follow-up with us. It would have been my first time to be working side-by-side in realtime with Lee Llamas their commissioned photographer and videographer along with florist Eve and Co by Ms. Beth Amat on that day. We made sure to commit with ALL the requirements, requests and deadlines that was set to us. I just didn't see the point of things being injected with confusions, complications and unnecessary intellectualizations. We always attempt to address the concerns of everyone significant in this event especially the mothers and their inputs and requests. Everyone in the family had their concerns and we felt sorry that we tried to see to it that we hear and accomodate not just with one concern but with everyone's significant requests for this wedding. I thought things would have been better and happier if there was more appreciation than hostility. There are still a lot of things we ought to learn in this life. And I'm no exception to it. But I will always have to look at things with a positive outlook in life. I remember Ms. Nancy Go's thoughts of wisdom she inspired me about challenges in life to be better as we go on. A very good note indeed!

My First Wedding of the Day ( Montes - Buenaventura Wedding, January 19, 2008)

Rheena and JP are professional physical therapists based in the United States. It was Rheena's mom, Ms. Ruby whom I met first for the inquiry meeting. Aside from Rheena's mom, she was entrusted to take care of some wedding preparations particularly in recommending the suppliers to Rheena. I was privileged to be Ms. Ruby's chosen designer and started preparing for Rheena's wedding. Ms. Ruby was a straight person to deal with but her virtue of compassion and appreciation have always been there. We had all the designs and fabrics prepared for the female entourage along with the Barongs for JP, the two fathers, the best man.

Rheena is based in the US, another overseas bride-client of mine but it had been a pleasant and inspiring experience we had from them. They will tell you what they want and as long as you have it accomplished, the concerns of technicalities was never an issue and work is appreciated. I think it is just to be with them on their wedding day and be able to assist them with their apparel concerns. We were at room 1525 of the Makati Shangri-la where Rheena's dressing room was. At 6:15 am, Toto Bagamasbad, their hair and make-up artist was finished with the bride and was mid-way doing Ms. Ruby's make-up.Ariel Javelosa Photography and Videography was covering the event. The beautiful bridal bouquet was by Tony Padilla of Floral designs. A six-door bridal limousine from Trans-ABi was at the hotel's entrance waiting for Rheena to bring her to church.

Ceremony venue was at the Santuario de San Antonio , Forbes Park and Reception followed at the Makati Shangri-ly. I will miss the working relationship I had with Ms. Ruby. Goes the same with Rheena who was just appreciative of our work. It will be a very memorable event for the Monteses and the Buenaventuras.

A Homecoming and a Wedding ( Amparo - Joves Wedding, January 18, 2008)

Tommy and Merle have always been diligently represented by their wedding planner and coordinator Trish of the WED Republic. My assistant Paulo have always been prompt with their concerns. As the wedding date approaches its last strecth, It was the only time I was able to be acquianted with Merle. A very warm and friendly bride in reality. I hope I had a longer time to bond with her even via e-mail though I'ved always attended to her e-mail updates plus Paulo's continuous follow-up.
I guess mainly due to her planner's hard work did assured Merle that everything was well taken cared of. It was even a plus that all her siblings and folks were very nice that made it a lot easier for us. Goes the same with Tommy's family who are all based in Cebu and are all flying in to Manila for the wedding. I'm grateful for the bride's 100 % trust and confidence that was given to us. And to prove that they didn't go wrong with us, we made sure that every detail was taken care of. Result? a sounding fulfillment! My impression is, Tommy is more on the subdued type but you can feel deep warmth within him and appreciate that very much. A wedding destination in Tagaytay is where they chose to tie the knot. Exchange of vows held at the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and Reception at the Ville Sommet where she also dressed up.
Seasoned Dino Lara was her photographer of choice and 30 FPS for videography. Tagaytay and Manila based Flowers of May provided the flowers. Model Gigi Uson did Merle's Hair and make-up. After the wedding, the Amparos and the Joveses are flying to Cebu this time for more bonding. It is very fulfilling when clients appreciates our work and realizes that we've had many clients who credits us with how realistic our terms are and dedication in our line of work. I will miss this wedding and all I can say is that they be given more blessings for their kindess.

My first debutant client for 2008 is Czarina Francisco , a student from my alma mater, De La Salle University-Manila. It all began with my former bride-client May Ignacio.
Elaine, Czarina's mom is the brother of May's husband. Her event was held at the Emerald room of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. A charming young girl with of full energy and vibrance. The mom and daughter bonding was in full realization as we witnessed. My best wishes to the new young lady in the society!

A Nurse and an Airline Mechanic in London ( Palabrica - Servillon Wedding, January 10, 2008)

Thelma is a registered nurse and is tying the knot with Lorenz both based in London.
It was a long distance communication for us and somehow we both managed it pull things off. She came home as early as December to attend to some family matters and got the time check on her gown concerns after Christmas. I was happy that I was able to live up with her expections. It was a Filipiniana-inspired wedding gown that can be transformed to a western-inspired design. Dressing up at EDSA Shangri-la Hotel's Tower Wing room 927 in a bridal suite we saw Paulette Tan-Dimaano of Demoiselle her wedding coordinator. Parking was an ordeal at the hotel's basement due to a pharmaceutical company's yearly event celebration. She was dressed up already doing photo and video shoot by Ariel Javelosa. However, we checked her dress and made sure that she was able to wear to properly. Thelma was holding a bouquet of Holland cymbidiums provided by Tropical Blooms along with the entire female Entourage matching up her lavander and magenta motif. Hair and make-up was by Kuks Reyes. From the hotel, we left an hour before here ceremony time and proceeeded at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Abandond in Marikina City.
The church's doors were closed as we escorted Thelma to the door entrance and made sure that she was well groomed before beginning to march the aisle. Thelma and Lorenz's reception followed at La Veranda also in Marikina City

A Young Couple Tying the Knot (Fernando - Asuncion Wedding, January 6, 2008)

At 23 years old, Rommel and Herlyn are bent on being united in the sacrament of Matrimony. I'ved been meeting with this two energetic couple discussing their concerns particulary their wedding attires. At some points, there were playful stressing of ideas. I realized that at their time and age, 23 year old grown-ups are relatively young couples. I knew I were handling them right. We managed to come up with a finalized design for the wedding dress along with Rommel's tuxedo ensemble.
Sunday was their altar day and we we're at the Garden Wing of EDSA Shangri-la where Herlyn has stayed to dress-up. It was so inspiring to see Lito Genilo himself of Smart Shot doing the photo shoot his other crew taking charge of the video capturing . You can really tell an experienced wedding supplier. JP Montilla of Complete Work, Inc was their coordinator designate running the entire show. Herlyn's bridal bouquet really looked good comprising of about 2 dozens of Parrot tulips especially prepared for her by Ms. Evelyn Aldaba of Lily Flower Boutique. I appreciate other suppliers in their respective field who goes out of their way just to address the concerns of their clients. Freelance Greta Estoesta did the hair and make-up.
It was a pleaseant afternoon as we proceeded to Sta. Rita de Cascia Parish inside Philamlife Homes in Quezon City for the ceremony. A strectch limousine car from Adeb bridal cars brought the bride to the church and then again the wed couple for their reception at the Gazebo Royale where Hizons's catering has prepared a sumptous wedding dinner.

Tagaytay has been a favorite wedding destination during the last five years. The Chapel of Transfiguration or more popularly known as the Caleruega Chapel is where
Jean has committed to exhange wedding vows with Alex. Jean has just ended her stint as an international flight attendant for Royal Brunei Airlines. Beacuse of her distance, we tried to maximize our way of communicating with each other.Anticipating the post-holiday traffic, we left Manila earlier and realized that the travel was smooth sailing. Not even the usual dilema of passing thru the SLEX area in San Pedro-Susana Heights gave us the scare of traffic. We arrived at the Nurture SPA where they were having their reception and dressing up area ahead of the call time. Jean was busy doing some photo shoots by Nice Print Photography. Video was by them as well. Gloria Sy did the fabulous hair and make up of Jean along with the entourage.

Flowers was made by Rubylyn Alvarez of Life Celebration. Their wedding invitation ( in a airline ticket pattern) came out very interesting and unique designed by Alex the groom himself and executed by Printed Matter. From the Nurture SPA to the Caleruega Chapel, Jean road in a vintage Studebaker from Don Robert's bridal cars. The trip and assistance was so compensating in a sense that the climate was so cool and windy and me along with my staff were enjoying the cool breeze. FL events an event group based in Batangas were the coordiantors hire that day. Aside from the strong wind, the weddingh march commenced very well and saw her off the marching aisle to meet Alex.

The Groom from the North, The Bride from the South ( Crisostomo - Fojas Wedding, December 28, 2007)

This is my last wedding for 2007. Melanie is based in Melbourne, Australia while Jonathan is presently working in Tokyo, Japan. A North and South couple getting married along the earth's equator area. We thought we left early to catch up with Melanie's dressing all the way to Tagaytay. It was a bad start for me as my car was
hit by a driver using a red plate vehicle in doing transactions with the bank where I am a client as well. I just hope it was the municipal's official account with bank and not a personal matter by a municipal employee or officer ordering this ill-mannered driver to do the transactions and worse using a government vehicle. I couldn't stay and argue as I would be consuming so much time and might not be able to be in Tagaytay on time. I left it to the almighty to decide on this incident. I just have to be thankful that I will be able to provide the finances to have my car's body repaired. Well, traffic at SLEX is bad mainly due to the road repairs and widening. I wonder why our beloved nation has never recovered on road repairs and widenings. Its all for the betterment of people. Yeah, yeah, yeah!
We were headed for "The Boutique" Bed and Breakfast where Melanie and her family was dressing up. Luckily, we made it ahead of schedule. The suite was packed with relatives and suppliers. Mimi and Karl photography and videography was documenting the event, make-up artist Julie Baun doing the beautification of the ladies hair and faces. The bouquets created by Flowers of May were bright and noticeable. Lifestyle Party Planners headed by ChaCha Arevalo was running the event. The bride rode in a Benz limousine by Don Robert's Bridal Cars. By half-past three in the afternoon we headed for Our Lady of Lasalette Shrine in Silang for the ceremony . Reception followed immediately supposedly at the Lasallete Gardens but was moved to the Gymnasium as a precaution to the possibility of a rainfall fore casted by the weather bureau. We made it through with flying colors. But luck wasn't really on our side. Thinking that the Aguinaldo Highway would be a better route alternative back to Manila, we were wrong! We detoured back to Tagaytay due to the heavy traffic in Dasmarinas and went back to the highway bound for Sta. Rosa.

The Physical Therapists from Brunei (Barraga - Yacub Wedding, December 27,2007)

Chanda a Physical Therapist based in Brunei commissioned us to do her wedding gown seven months ago. Time really flies fast. I recall my sister Janet getting married to my now brother-in-law, Willy on the same venues. The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception or better know as the Manila Metropolitan Cathedral and the Manila Hotel seven years ago. Chanda was radiant in her make-up by Irene Manigo. The wowie famous florist, Mang Boy Mahusay did the bride and the entourage's bouquets. Seasoned Chito Ignacio was their chosen photographer and videographer. It was a bit gloomy as the rain started to pour even before we all got out of the hotel to proceed to the Cathedral. As the saying goes, "a wedding bliss". It was definitely a raining moment and not just a drizzle. Surprisingly after about a five minute travel approaching the church's facade, the rain suddenly stopped giving us the chance to step out of our car and eventually assist Chanda as she gets off from the BMW limousine.
We made sure that she was properly groomed, veil and train properly laid out before she commenced her bridal march. Irene was likewise on the move making sure that Chanda's hair and make-up got it last touches. It was a Thursday. We had to rush back to the office continuing the day's work and commitment with my other bride clients.

A Union in Historical Kawit (Sorino - Santillan Wedding, December 20, 2007)

Another testimony of a referral from a previous bride. Arni came to my office accompanied by a previous bride client, Almira Cruzat-Cagurangan. Though it was just and inquiry then, she eventually decided to commission me to do her wedding gown along with Marl's barong ensemble for the groom's attire. I realized the distance Arni had to travel just to see me for appointments and fittings all the way from Kawit in Cavite. Arni at present is based in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia who came home just to tie the knot with Arni. As my commitment stays, I delivered on time and not a bit of anxiety imparted to this simple, sweet, soft-spoken bride.

Come wedding day, we had to proceed to the hotel of the Island Cove Resort and Leisure were Arni has decided to stay for her wedding day preparation. I was with a team of wedding suppliers that that is a first time working side-by-side. Joshua Reyes, a Malabon based hair and make-up artist was her beauty vendor, Andre Photography, a Cainta-based photographer and videographer was doing the photo and video documentation of the wedding. A Cavite-based florist, "Flowers Are Us" was
commissioned to accentuate the entourage, decorate the church. I didn't get the chance to get identify with her wedding coordinator. I thought they weren't so remarkable enough to be noticed though I think these nice couple had one. Ceremony venue was at the St.Mary Magdalene Parish just a stone throw away from the historic Aguinaldo Shrine. Reception to follow immediately at Ibarra's Portico del Sol. A Renaissance Inspired Wedding (Pastor - Bilasano Wedding, December 8, 2007)

A charming bride-elect, Rica has chosen me to be her wedding gown designer many months back. An appreciative and easy to please bride, Rica was so easy to work with. Not a single moment I felt I would be reprimanded but rather she took every inch of the detail with a 100% trust and confidence. I know she was well prepared when she came to me in terms of what she wanted for her wedding as far as the
gowns will be concerned. Goes the same with the entourage where she gave me her full trust on what they would be wearing. It gave me all the inspiration to work diligently for her. Not a bit of stress has she given me and I know I did the same to her. Up to the very last hours of her altar date, there were minor concerns but it never allowed her to worry a bit. A real appreciative bride I must describe of her. As soon as we arrived at room 1801 of Bellevue Hotel, we were welcomed by Rica's accommodating coordinator. Vision and Ideas was her trusted coordinating group. True enough they lived to their qualifications as wedding planners. Smart Shot of Lito Genilo was Brian and rica's photographer as well as their videographer. I remember how Rica was raving about her pre-nuptial shots taken in Bangui, Ilocos Norte where the windmills were. Jackie Rivera created Rica's fabulous hair-do highlighted by a customized crystal tiara handcrafted by Ivy Riva Duenas of AMVY Accessories which definitely complemented the wedding's theme. Jackie also did Rica's fabulous make-up and Flowers and Foliage provided for the bride and entourage's flowers. All throughout the dressing time, I never felt an air of stress in the room. We eventually left the hotel headed for Brian and Rica's ceremony and Reception venue.
The most promising and awaited venue in the wedding industry. FERNBROOK! Arriving at the venue greeted us a horse-drawn carriage where Rica will eventually ride to be taken to the ceremony venue.
The Chapelle Notre Dame de Vie was 60% erected to my personal assessment. I couldn't comment so much with the place but to my disappointment. But Rica with a good heart just kept silent and smiled. I know she wouldn't spoil her day. At least the Victorian Garden 1 was prepared for the wedding banquet. I saw Alex del Rosario of Juan Carlo the Caterer but didn't get the chance to say hello. He's was so busy seeing to it that everything is in place and taken cared of. I even saw Ronald Rosales of Balay Kandila, chat for a while and tried to assess out the venue's
situation subjectively. Rica insisted that I stay though I thought I could really stay, but I have to run back to the office to attend to my staff's concern every Saturday. We still made it to a point that the bride was well groomed when she commence with her bridal march.

Young Medical Doctors Tying the Knot (Cruz - Tarca Wedding, December 7, 2007)

Another couple referred by a previous couple client, Christian and Liza. After Drs. Marie and Voltz wedding, they recommended me this time to these young medical praticioners undergoing their respective residency training. As always, EDSA Shangri-la Hotel was the hotel choice for dressing up for a Fernwood Wedding Event. Liza was preparing at her room 810 of the Tower wing. It was already the traffic season so we decided to leave the office at a much earlier time but the traffic was so consuming but still made it over two hours before Liza and Christian's departure from the hotel to St. Francis of Assisi Chapel at Fernwood. WPPP's president, Bern Mejias was busy taking pictures and his videographers in constant footage taking.

The bridal bouquet in amaryllis was eye-catching provided by Scenta Flora. JP Montilla of Complete Work, Inc was running the event while Toto Bagamasbad along with his solid team doing the hair and make-up for Liza and her folks. It took us some time before we reached the ceremony venue. The processional march started after sometime. It was a good thing that their reception follows at the Cycad Gardens also of Fernwood. Before I left the venue, JP and I along with my staff decided to take a peep on the fully air-conditioned garden reception hall with Josaiah's Catering as their chosen reception food supplier. Of course we waited till Liza and Christian was in the altar and everything in place before we left.

My Okasyon models; Dr. Janny and Ms. Doya on the ramp for Okasyon's Divine line

With such a short time to prepare, me and my colleagues have found a way to pool ourselves together and come up with a worthwile activity for the year's end. Together with the newly opened OKASYON by Michelle Lim at the Robinson's place in Ermita we came up with an event which comprised of a two-segment fashion show showcasing FWDP's collection for Okasyon and a bridal fashion show also by FWDP.
Michelle Lim, FWDP's president inspired us to venture into another aspect of fashion
doing pret-a-porter collections as a retail opportunity. As the name of our association defines us, we are not just bridal wear specialist but as an all around focus in fashion specialties.
Our gratitude to our colleagues in the wedding industry namely, Steve Tamayo of Tamayo's Catering and Flowershop, Alan Borras of Passion Photography, John Parado, Arah Gecolea and Tina of Inxites Digital Video, Jong Mesina of the Write Impression, John and Benz Rana of Weddings at Work as well as the support of PAWP (Philippine Association of Wedding Planners), Racquel Mariano of Sunjewel Marketing, Joyce Aguilar of 2171 Floral Creations, Ivy Riva Duenas of Amvy Accessories and Eric Cabantog of Stefany's Lumban Barongs and Irma Contreras - Yu of Celebration Cakes whom despite their busy schedules whole heartedly shared us their compassion and support. Our gratitude also goes to REVLON for providing us with the make-up for the models, Hoffman LCD TV for providing us 6 sets for 42" LCD screens for the show, Blims Fine Furniture, Forever Flawless Moments, To the hair and make-up artists who unconditionally shared us their talents, To the models who where generous enough to lend us their services despite our budget constraints. My gratitude also goes to a my dear doctor friends Janny and Alan Serrano way back from medical school who chose to forgo of the day's gain to support me by being my model for the Okasyon segment. Same goes to Ms. Doya (Michelle's relative) who also wore my collection
and doing it very well. The plus size models of the show where likewise "scene stealers" headed by Reggie Soriano of Rio Tiaras modelling for Okasyon modelling to the tune of Madonna's "Vogue". Everything went smoothly though not likened to the caliber of The Philippine Fashion Week though I can say we had a wonderful time inspite of the physical stress but the tireless efforts by everyone made this event trully special and achievable. Hats of to my colleagues! Indeed we will move forward!

I couldn't say no to JP Montilla,President of PAWP (Philippine Association of Wedding Planners) the only association of legitimate, full-time wedding planners
in the country. It was such a fun night as there were games, food , programs and of course my other colleagues in the wedding industry with the likes of Dino Lara, Jason Magbanua, Bernie Pasamba, Noky Gatmaitan of Printsonalities, designer Dennis Martin, Rachel Mariano of Sunjewel, Dominic Velasco of Imacron, Jong Mesina of The Write Impression, of course the Wedding Essentials contingent headed by Kitten Zapata and Mark Dy. Abner Co of Audio Compulsion, Joyce Aguilar of 2171 Floral Creations, Boyet and Jet Versoza of Josaiah's Catering, designer Oliver Tolentino just some friends I recall that I noticed It was last November 27 at the Manila Polo Club. As always, a glamorous and successful event for PAWP. CHEERS!
